Question

With 9 image / 3 video / 3 audio / 12 total slots, what is the auto-fill priority across Board, Keyframes, Atlases, location angle, props, voice references and Performance? How does the user see what was dropped and override it per Shot or Take?

From "Board paint tool and Notation" (#6): a Board can have several panels. By default they are tiled in panel order into one image slot, and each Shot can override this to use one slot per panel. Budget a Board as one slot unless that override is set.

From "Prompt composer phrasing" (#9), facts this ticket depends on:

  • Slot tags (<Picture N>, <Audio N>) are numbered after the budget is filled, in wired order, so a dropped reference is never named. Subjects whose Atlas is dropped stay in the prompt as text-only definitions marked newly_generated.
  • A Wardrobe item adds its own mannequin Picture (attribute_transfer) on top of the Look's Atlas row.
  • When a Performance is present, Voice references are dropped (the Performance slice already carries the voices), which frees audio slots.
  • One-slot-per-Panel Boards use consecutive Pictures, and Keyframes are separate Pictures (first/last).
  • A prompt override validates its slot tags against the current assignment. A tag pointing at an empty or reassigned slot blocks queuing, so changing a Shot's budget can break an override.

Resolution

Binding limits. In the slice the budget is 9 image + 3 audio. Nothing fills a video slot (Blender playblasts and Take extension are out of scope), so the 12-slot total can never bind.

Default image priority (top fills first):

  1. Keyframes (first, last)
  2. Atlases, in subject order
  3. Wardrobe-item mannequins, each right after its Look's Atlas
  4. Location angle
  5. Board
  6. Props, in order of first appearance in the action text

On overflow, a one-slot-per-Panel Board falls back to its tiled single slot before anything is dropped.

Where the order lives. A per-Project category order, reordered by drag-and-drop in Project settings and stored in .studio. New Projects are seeded from an app-wide default order, also drag-and-drop editable in app Settings.

Slot list (per Shot only). Each Shot shows its resolved candidates (real references) in order, with a draggable sent / not sent line capped at the budget. Items below the line are labelled excluded (user's choice, allowed even when slots are free) or over budget (forced).

  • An unedited Shot follows the Project order live.
  • An edited Shot stores its full ordered list. A new candidate is inserted at its default-order position and is sent only if there is room; it never pushes out an item the user placed above the line (it lands as "over budget" instead) and carries a "new" badge until viewed. Removed candidates disappear. "Reset to Project order" is available.
  • A change in the sent set shows the same quiet marker as "composer changed". Override prompt tags that no longer match a slot still block queuing (from Prompt composer phrasing).
  • No per-Scene and no per-Take override. Each Take records the exact slot assignment it was sent with; "same inputs, new seed" reproduces it.

Audio. With a Performance, its slice takes one slot and Voice references drop. Otherwise the candidates are Voice references of speaking Characters only (a dialogue chip in the Shot; O.S./V.O. count), ordered by first Line. One slot per Character: the Lock snapshot's clips are joined into one file with short gaps at job build. Silent subjects' voices can be dragged above the line manually. A 4th speaker is over budget and gets no <Audio N> entry.

Props. Props are key props only; set dressing and clutter belong in the Location's references. One slot per Prop, with its Lock snapshot's Tiles packed side by side in uniform cells on mid-grey (content-identified, no burned-in text). No Prop atlas.

Visibility. An "over budget" badge on the Shot wherever Shots are listed (Board timeline, queue dialog), for forced drops only; user exclusions get no badge. The Dailies details panel shows the Take's sent slot assignment (with slot numbers) beside the current one. Forced drops never block queuing.

Glossary. CONTEXT.md: Prop narrowed to key objects (set dressing goes in Location references); new term Slot list.
